My nine year old son looking for more information on the Eibli Angelfish and we discovered their profile here with the appropriate tank size. I am pleased we did because we were unaware they grew to six inches in size. This definitely calls for a larger tank size.

I read about "siesta" technique a while back and it seems to work. Algae needs alot of light to photosynthesis. More light than plants actually. So by cutting the light a few hours at mid-day you are making life hard on algae but not on your plants. I like this technique. It works for me.

There are 2 variants to this species, the most common one is with the yellow tail but in the southern Red Sea it has orange tail. it is highly aggressive fish that should not enterer the tank at the beginning.

Just bought 28 gal nano cube w/ new quad 105 watt pc a week ago. Love the tank. Wave maker is great, lights are bright, chiller is quiet, set up a breeze. I think I may add an additional in tank power head and a protien skimmer. Much more bang for the buck compared to the Oceanic Bio Cube!

I just wanted to say I restarted up my 55 gallon aquarium about 6 weeks ago. I went to petco for a few things, I was talking to someone in the fish area, I told him about my 55 gallon tank ,I asked how long I had to wait to start putting fish in the tank , He said 24 hr. So I went to walmart and bought 10 guppies. They stared to die, so I bought 10 more and 10 more. I have 5 left. After seeing your site I now know why. My aquarium is doing ok ammonia level and nitrate level are fine today. My question is I have 3 oscars I want to put them in my 55 aquarium and switch the guppies in another tank. What do you suggest? My alkalinty is high 300 ph 8.4

Thanks. I don't have a fuge on this nano cube. A hang on would only work on the back, so you'd need plenty of room behind the tank. You could plumb a refugium inline though by putting the pump/powerhead and return flow in one of the back compartments.

The chiller makes very little noise (to me anyway) and I'm sitting about 2 - 3 feet away from it as I type this. It sounds like a small fridge kicking on. Yes it's louder than the 4 fans in the nano cube's hood. I can't hear those at all, maybe I need my hearing checked??? Lol.

Nice tank and good setup step by step description.

I have this nano and want to setup a refuge but haven't really found or created a design I like.
If you decide to set up a refug on the nano only, I will be looking forward to seeing your design.

Also, how much noise does the chiller make? Is it louder than the 4 fans in the hood? I agree with the temp. swing being abit much but also don't really care to wreck the serenity with more noise.
