The Purple Tang – Saltwater Fish
The Purple Tang is quite popular among saltwater fish hobbyists with larger tanks and they are expensive! Ranging in price anywhere from $100 – $150 and that is online. Locally you can expect to pay more. The scientific name for them is Zebrasoma xanthurus and they are collected in the Red Sea, the West Indian Ocean and a few other locales. Like other tangs, the Purple Tang needs lots of swimming space, proper tank mates, slow acclimation and the proper diet for adequate long term care.
This is an awesome fish with stunning colors. If this tang sounds interesting to you, check out the full profile here: Purple Tang. If you have experience keeping them you can also post comments on that page.

There are 2 variants to this species, the most common one is with the yellow tail but in the southern Red Sea it has orange tail. it is highly aggressive fish that should not enterer the tank at the beginning.
